Kondo GE-1 Phono Amplifier

Designed to be the companion Phono amplifier of Integrated amplifier Overture and Pre-amplifier G-70, GE-1 gives the best out of analog playback with high definition and rich musical characters.

The newly developed phono amplifier circuitry is fueled by a gigantic power supply section. This special design draws the charms out of all recordings no matter matching with vacuum tube or solid state amplifier.

With intimate and crystal clear sound, GE-1 will definitely fill your audio enjoyment with ultimate pleasures.

Description

Kondo GE-1 Phono Amplifier

Features

  • Output circuit is constructed by 2-stages NF+ cathode follower to reach low output impedance. It ensures freshness sound.
  • A cut core power transformer with minimal magnetic flux leakage is adopted, providing best foundation for good sound quality.
  • Decoupling capacitors are carefully placed along 4 different sections to create shortest routes on NFB paths, making signal loop with best purity.
  • High sound quality low cut-off filter at the output stage is formed by a signal coupling capacitor and a user selectable loading resistance.
  • Large scale bridge diode and TO3 transistor are employed at the DC heater circuit, realizing natural sound with deep texture.
  • With best component placements, signal wiring and ground layout over module structure.
  • Adopt original quality parts such as SSW (silk silver wire), silver foil capacitors etc.
  • Pure copper sub-chassis is used to realize lively and open sound.

Phono amplifier module

Modularization of a phono amplifier section realizes the shortness signal path and the merit of hand wiring, especially when NFB loop is considered. Moreover, high purity signal loop are formed by placing 4 decoupling capacitors around the module.

Also taking consideration that a transistor pre-amplifier may be connected, GE-1 is possible to load with input impedance as low as 20kΩ.

Power Supply Circuit for Main and Filament

Rectification tube in use is 6X4. Power transformer design, which we paid high attention to vibration countermeasures, was fixed after long time of listening tests and comparisons.

Ripple filter capacitors (400μF) and decoupling capacitors (about 500μF /ch) are layout at the best circuit positions. Decoupling capacitors for right and left are also placed independently for cathode follower and equalizer sections. 4 signal loops were formed and inter-stages interferences are removed thoroughly.

In order to ensure powerful ripple rejections and the stability against voltage fluctuation, audio grade TO3 type transistors are adopted. Result is low impedance DC line and high purity sound.

In addition, the selection of CR and the large bridge diode further enhance liveliness of music.

A simple low cut filter by selectable load resistance

GE-1’s output stage load resistance (3 steps selectable) and the input impedance of the preamplifier formed a resultant impedance of 20kΩ. It works as a low-cut filter together with the output stage coupling capacitor. This design gives natural and gentle characteristics to the filter. No loss of sound quality while reducing rumble ingredients.

Super High Quality Parts

All parts were carefully chosen after massive hours of listening tests. SSW silk silver wires, original silver foil capacitors(NFB part), original cutcore power transformer, silver lead resistors, original RCA jacks etc. All CR part are carefully selected and arranged.

    Shipping & Delivery

    UK, EUROPE & WORLDWIDE DELIVERY

Our delivery charges are based on weight and are charged at royal mail rates. Once you have added an item into your basket the shipping charge should appear based on the weight of your order, initially the charge is shown from a UK resident but after you enter your personal details the shipping for your country will appear. We deliver to any country in the world, anywhere with a valid address, typical delivery times are between 3 and 7 days.

We will use the most appropriate carrier for your order, anything lost in transit will be replaced in a timely manner, all orders are sent using recognised postal carriers and couriers.

On heavy and bulky items the charges can be quite high so please enquire via e-mail or telephone us for an exact cost to avoid mis-understandings.

Delivery times are based on current workloads, we try to dispatch in stock orders within 3 days of receipt, if your order is urgent please add a note in the order comments box. Occasionally we may run out of stock of an item or if it is built to order (power supply’s, mains leads etc) it could take slightly longer to dispatch.

Shipping charges start at £1.95 for small items like plugs and connectors, heavy items cost more and need to be sent insured delivery so please consider that when the cost appears in your basket.

Any questions about postage or delivery please tel. 01484 540561 or send us an e-mail

All items on the site (except those made to order) can be returned under the consumer contracts regulations within 30 days. Please contact us prior to returning so we can discuss your requirements. If the item has been specially ordered (not specially made) we reserve the right to charge a nominal re-stocking fee. We expect any goods returned to be in new condition complete with original packaging otherwise we reserve the right to refuse a refund. Items classed as “tailor made” cannot be returned under the regulations although Brook Audio may accept the return under certain circumstances.

Please note if you order goods from Brook Audio and live outside the EU you may have to pay import duty/taxes on your purchase. We have no control over this charge and we do not pre-pay the charges for you. We do not declare a lower value to avoid customs charges so PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO DO THIS.

We get asked 100’s of times every week for tracking numbers, these are usually a waste of time as they only tell you that the goods are progressing through the carriers system. Usually for items sent overseas the country you live in will determine how quickly your goods arrive, as an example the Spanish postal service is very very slow, the Russian customs clearance can take weeks as well as Brazil.
