Kondo CFz MC Transformer

In combination with phono amplifier GE-1 etc, CFz is one of the best MC step-up transformers to recover the rich musicality and highest sounding quality from analog disc.
Based on the silver wire application know-how compiled over many years in transformer winding, CFz is designed to reach full performance of a step-up transformer by using copper wire and a new and original winding technique. In addition, a strong core, which is with the same design and material as SFz, is used to further improve the sound quality. Result is open and natural sound with stunning freshness, giving delicate expression with wide dynamic range.

Kondo CFz MC Transformer

Features

  • Newly developed multi-layers balanced style winding structure. Together with the use of pure silver wires, rich sound with refine smoothness is obtained.
  • A large size core laminated of extremely thin 0.1 mm permalloy, realizing low loss and low distortion.
  • Double shields structure made of a permalloy case and a pure copper inner case.
  • Double float mechanical damping by special selected materials.
  • Signal output is direct with minimum connections.
  • Flagship silver cable Ls-41 is used as output cable.
  • The chassis is made of pure copper to guarantee open sound and stable sound.

Pure Silver Balanced multi-layer winding transformer

Multi-layer winding structure is used to maintain flat frequency response up to 100kHz. The peaking level is less than 1.5dB* even under no loaded condition at the secondary. (* connecting to a phono amplifier with 47kΩ input impedance.)

Extremely Thin Permalloy Core

Employed in the SFz is a large core built up with custom made ultra thin permalloy layers (100μm thickness). This unique design controls and suppresses eddy current and hysteresis loss to gain a flat response up to 100kHz. The core structure has a big sectional area and short magnetic circuit path to assure ultra low frequencies while maintaining extremely low distortion.

Elimination of Contacts

Mechanical contact points have been minimized, for its application to handle ultra low level signals. SFz has two independent impedance terminals on the primary side, 1.5Ω and 30Ω. Each terminal is soldered to a lead coming directly from the coil without any intermediate connection. Likewise in the secondary side, the leads coming from the coil are soldered directly to our flagship Ls-41 pure silver output cable.

Double Shield and Double Float Mechanical Damping Construction

The transformer is mounted in permalloy case and further covered by a inner chassis made of copper. The permalloy shield works against magnetic while the copper shields Fights the electrostatic.

The transformer is carefully held with damping gel. Special rubbers are is selected and used on the feet in order to further absorb mechanical vibration.

Balanced mode, Unbalanced mode

The SFz enables you to receive the signal from a phono cartridge on Balanced mode or Unbalanced mode by switching the grounding point of the primary side of the transformer. In case receiving on Balanced mode, use a 2 conductor type shielded phono cable to bring out the utmost performance. When there is no hum observed, use this unit at Balanced position for wider and deeper sound stage.

* Please note that Balanced mode is not available with a turntable wherein shielded section is grounded.

    Shipping & Delivery

    UK, EUROPE & WORLDWIDE DELIVERY

Our delivery charges are based on weight and are charged at royal mail rates. Once you have added an item into your basket the shipping charge should appear based on the weight of your order, initially the charge is shown from a UK resident but after you enter your personal details the shipping for your country will appear. We deliver to any country in the world, anywhere with a valid address, typical delivery times are between 3 and 7 days.

We will use the most appropriate carrier for your order, anything lost in transit will be replaced in a timely manner, all orders are sent using recognised postal carriers and couriers.

On heavy and bulky items the charges can be quite high so please enquire via e-mail or telephone us for an exact cost to avoid mis-understandings.

Delivery times are based on current workloads, we try to dispatch in stock orders within 3 days of receipt, if your order is urgent please add a note in the order comments box. Occasionally we may run out of stock of an item or if it is built to order (power supply’s, mains leads etc) it could take slightly longer to dispatch.

Shipping charges start at £1.95 for small items like plugs and connectors, heavy items cost more and need to be sent insured delivery so please consider that when the cost appears in your basket.

Any questions about postage or delivery please tel. 01484 540561 or send us an e-mail

All items on the site (except those made to order) can be returned under the consumer contracts regulations within 30 days. Please contact us prior to returning so we can discuss your requirements. If the item has been specially ordered (not specially made) we reserve the right to charge a nominal re-stocking fee. We expect any goods returned to be in new condition complete with original packaging otherwise we reserve the right to refuse a refund. Items classed as “tailor made” cannot be returned under the regulations although Brook Audio may accept the return under certain circumstances.

Please note if you order goods from Brook Audio and live outside the EU you may have to pay import duty/taxes on your purchase. We have no control over this charge and we do not pre-pay the charges for you. We do not declare a lower value to avoid customs charges so PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO DO THIS.

We get asked 100’s of times every week for tracking numbers, these are usually a waste of time as they only tell you that the goods are progressing through the carriers system. Usually for items sent overseas the country you live in will determine how quickly your goods arrive, as an example the Spanish postal service is very very slow, the Russian customs clearance can take weeks as well as Brazil.
